Shesha (शेषनाग)

Shesha is the cosmic serpent on whom Vishnu reclines, symbolising continuity and the support of the cosmos, with traditions that emphasise cosmic support, infinity, continuity, devotion and primordial waters. Images of Shesha are commonly recognised through multi-hooded serpent, reclining Vishnu and cosmic ocean. The name is also encountered as Ananta, Adishesha.
