Matsya (मत्स्य)

Matsya is the fish form of Vishnu associated with flood narratives and the preservation of life and sacred knowledge, with traditions that emphasise preservation, guidance through catastrophe, continuity and sacred knowledge. Images of Matsya are commonly recognised through fish or human-fish form, boat and sages. The name is also encountered as Matsya Avatar.
