Narasimhi

Narasimhi is a lion-headed mother goddess associated with Narasimha and included in some expanded Matrika groupings, with traditions that emphasise protection, ferocity, courage and divine maternal power. Images of Narasimhi are commonly recognised through lion face, Vaishnava weapons and fierce posture. The name is also encountered as Pratyangira in some later associations, though identities should not be collapsed. Some details change across sectarian, regional and temple traditions, which is important when writing an accurate overview. A useful treatment should separate mythology, theology and living practice: first outline the deity’s identity and principal narratives, then explain iconography and devotional significance, and finally note contemporary worship, festivals, temples and household customs where they are genuinely relevant.
