Ayyanar (अय्यनार)

Ayyanar is a guardian deity of Tamil village traditions, often worshipped at settlement boundaries, with traditions that emphasise village protection, guardianship, justice and rural community identity. Images of Ayyanar are commonly recognised through horse, guardian attendants, weapons and terracotta horses. The name is also encountered as Aiyanar.
