The word approved on this shelf is about paperwork as much as herbs. Approved blended preparations are multi-ingredient Ayurvedic products made by manufacturers who hold a licence to produce them, and their packs are expected to carry that licence number along with other required details.
That makes the label your first stop. Look for the product name, the full ingredient list with quantities, the manufacturer's name and address, licence number, batch number, manufacturing date, expiry and the maker's directions. If something is missing or unclear, ask before you buy.
These products sit between a house blend and a classical churna; some follow textual recipes, others are proprietary. In either case they are meant to be used as the manufacturer directs, and a conversation with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor should come first if you take other medicines or are buying for someone else in the family.
Store the pack as instructed, usually closed in a cool, dry place, and out of children's reach.
